La Lluvia y las Gotas de Rocío / The Rain and the Dewdrops

Two dewdrops woke up on a chestnut´s leaf by a stream river. Soon it started raining. Under the thick foliage of the tree, both wished to be like the raindrops which were falling to the river and remained water, but whilst one was looking at them with admiration the other  could only feel envy.

In order to see them better and mimicking their agile movements, the first dewdrop started to slide over the leaf while the other one kept sneaking looks at them boiling with rage and jealousy.

The curious dewdrop learnt so much from those falling from the sky that, when it reached the tip of the leaf, it felt no fear at all and jumped like them to join the rest of the water.

Almost at the same time, on the chestnut leaf, the jealous one evaporated in its own fire.

If you want to develop and improve, learn from who you admire. Envy will not take you anywhere.

Los Príncipes de Arena / The Princes of Sand

A sculptor modelled two figures with the sand of the beach, two handsome princes who were admired by those who came by during all day.

At nightfall, feeling lonely and so close to the sea, one of the princes, scared stiff, started to moan. The other tried to reassure him that the water was not going to reach them and that they would be intact the following day. But nothing of what he said could calm the fearful prince down and he soon started to sob.

Feeling his face softened by the tears, his anguish intensified and his crying became heavier. He cried for hours and the more he cried the more he dissolved.

The following day visitors could only see the figure of a beautiful prince beside a heap of mud.

If you dread without reason you will be a victim of your own fear.
